Hey guys, do you ever go to the garden or do some work and feel hungry? I was in the garden earlier, picking all these lovely peppers, and now I’m craving something delicious! So, I thought, why not whip up a fantastic meal with green bananas, plantains, and a nice piece of pumpkin? I also remembered that I have some liver in the fridge, so today we’re going to make liver and green bananas, boiled pumpkin, and some dumplings. Let’s get cooking!
Preparing the Liver
First, I have my liver, which is already washed and the membrane taken off. I washed it with vinegar to ensure it’s nice and clean. Now, I will add some dry seasonings, including garlic powder. I’ll list everything in the description box for you.
Next, I’m going to throw in some peppers, tomatoes, thyme, scallion, onion, and get my hands in there! A splash of Grace tomato ketchup adds a nice touch. Then, I need a little bit of browning – but be careful not to use too much soy sauce! Just a sprinkle for colour.
And of course, I can’t leave out my DW pepper sauce straight from the garden! I’m mixing everything together to marinate the liver nicely. If it needs a bit more soy sauce, I can add some, but don’t overdo it; we don’t want our liver to be too dark!
Cooking the Liver
Now, it’s time to cook the liver. I’m going to slowly add it to the pot, ensuring the oil is warm but not too hot. Remember, never use cold water on your liver! If you need to add water, make sure it’s warm.
Let’s give it a good stir. You can see how the liver is taking its time to cook, absorbing all those delicious seasonings. There’s no need to add any more liquid because the liver will release its own juices. Just cover it and let it simmer down.
Preparing the Green Bananas
While the liver is cooking, let’s prepare the bananas. I’m putting a stock cube in the boiling water to prevent the bananas from turning black. I have my five-finger bananas here. I’m going to tail them, slice them on the side, wash them, and toss them straight into the boiling water. No need to peel them today!
You can also add a little lime or oil to the water, but the stock cube has enough oil in it. Look at those bananas, they’re going to be delicious!
Final Touches
Now, my liver is cooked perfectly! It doesn’t take long at all. I’ve tasted it, and it’s bursting with flavour. The gravy is just right! I’m serving this with the green bananas and some dumplings.
This is what you want: liver cut up fine, nice and neat, and well-cooked. Remember, cooking liver is all about proper seasoning and a good fry. You don’t need to add any water; it builds up its own juices.
Our dinner is ready! We have liver, green bananas, plantains, dumplings, and pumpkin – a beautiful meal that’s perfect for a Sunday breakfast or any time you’re craving comfort food.
